Lieutenant Commander Tarski was a cigar-smoking engineering supervisor in the Barrayaran service who was roundly hated for his dictatorial, but always right, attitudes towards his underlings. Bazil Jesek pretended to be Tarski when he helped Miles Vorkosigan in his "we're super mercenaries" game for tricking the Oseran Mercenaries into thinking they were new members of the Dendarii Free Mercenary Fleet at Tau Verde IV.
