Hugo Vorvayne was the oldest brother of Ekaterin Vorkosigan. He did desk-work for the Imperial Bureau of Mines within Vordarian's District.
He and Ekaterin were not close in age; he was in his mid-forties when Ekaterin was thirty, with three children. He was sincerely fond of his little sister, providing her with moral support and even money during her first marriage, and trying to 'protect' her from the dangerous Miles Vorkosigan.
